I was really pissed off with the performance of Windows Vista. Right from the initial days, it was giving some problem or other. But now a days, it is giving me more and more Blue Screen Of Death, whenever I plug my LAN cable and other well known problems of file copy. I got literally irritated with file copy speed. I could transfer files from one hard drive to another portable one very fast. It used to take around one minute to copy a 1G file. But now a days Vista is telling me that it will take 2 days and 10 hours to copy a 4G file. Should I wait for that much time?
So I have decided to move to Linux. I downloaded and installed Open Suse 10.3. I am running 64 bit edition. It is working nice as of now. But I will not comment on the performance for at least three or four weeks. Let me see how it works. I am not so happy with the way fonts are rendered. But… I will use this for sometime. And I am writing this post from my Linux laptop.
I really did not have big problems migrating from Windows. I was not using MS Office. So the migration was easy. I think many people miss MS office, and that is one reason why many people refrain from using office. I have been using OpenOffice for the past three four months.
Even then, I miss Windows Live Writer, the best blogging tool I have used. So I need to find an alternative to that.
