Ideas That Make Good Posts – Part I

Sometimes we feel short of ideas. We need to have good ideas which can translate into good posts and provide value to the readers. In this post I will explain a method I have used a couple of times, and got good response from my readers.
As I mentioned in Contents That Adds Value post, most of my ideas come from my searches. Sometimes we fail to get an exact answer from search engines for what we exactly search for. So we do some research of our own and reach in a conclusion and solves our problem. If I did some good work to solve the problem myself, then it can be a good post. In my case, I will proceed like this:
- Mention the problem in a line so that it becomes the title of my post.
- Describe what the problem was. If this is a software problem, then one might want to include some screen shot.
- Explain my solution. It should include step by step methods I have followed.
- Conclude the post with some references and my own conclusion.
Believe me, you will get some occasional visitors and they will appreciate it. If you have faced some problem, then someone else might have also faced this problem. This can result in two things:
- If you are the first person to post a solution to the problem, then you will get more visitors and subsequently others may link to you.
- Your visitors will feel happy and if you are someone who consistently provides such valuable information, then your visitors will come back.
This can be used not only for software, but anything you face in your daily life. Sometimes, it may not be in your niche. In that case, you can make a category to post all these out of niche topics. I have used this strategy effectively in some of my posts like How to Kill Spam Comments, Using Feedburner’s My Brand Feature etc.
You are 100% true… The search referrals I get for my blog tells me how much people are searching for the same thing everyday.
